 As we know, much of the content of websites consists of words and phrases, some are considered key, depending on the size and / or relevance that every word has for every user.
They are known as keywords, the words or phrases that users enter in search engines (Google, Yahoo, etc..), To search for information about an specific topic and through which expect to get some relevant results on the searches they are doing.

The keywords are somehow a link between what users are looking for and the sites that could be directed, as when the user enter the keywords for the specific search, search engines have resulted in the same as a list of links to websites.

Keywords are very important considering that it is through them that a private individual interested in our product or service may or may not come to our site, regardless of whether it has visited before, because in most cases, users enter the site through search engines.

So that keywords can connect directly to the public interested in our product or service (target) with the website.

The keywords are closely related to your company, in which search results are ranked considering the relevance of the content of the pages among other things.

How to choose keywords?


Below are some ideas you can use to select appropriate keywords for your website


1. Below a list of possible keywords:

This list should include the words that you think the Internet users choose to find your site, It must be as long as you can. You can generate more choices of words and even using the content of your site and review sites of your competitors and the keywords they use.
Since the keywords included in this list are words that are related to your bussines, it's likely that you're leaving out other important keywords

To make a complete list consider answering the following questions:

  • What are the needs of your customers?
  • What problem are they trying to solve?
  • What words are used to refer to such a need or problem?
  • How would you describe your product or explain to someone who does not know?
  • What other terms are used in industry to describe your product or service?
  • What are the terms?

If possible, we recommend reviewing the words in your site referrarls because then you're getting the words that your customers are already using.

2. Analyze the words in the list:

It is important that you know more about each word as a possible candidate, with the objective of locating wich word could attract more number of searches and to find other words related to it.
There are some tools online that let you know wich keywords from your list are most / least used. Google for example offers this kind of free tools (eg Google Trends), however the application does not display the word to other tools that does (eg, Keyword Discovery, Wordtracker

 

3. Prioritize the list of words:

Choose words that are most promising for creating your site, then you may not be very efficient to include all of the list.
The words of higher priority, should be those that are very close to the content of your site, and also the words that enjoy a good level of popularity, but the priority for them, will largely depend on the objectives of the site.
Once you have chosen your keywords, it is recommended to use keywords such as variations  for example :, plural, singular, abbreviations, acronyms, numbers, codes, error writing, etc.

Remember, it is important to identify  the audience that you're trying to reach and then try to understand the thinking process and to continue the way they are writting for a search.
